ADMINISTRATION

Rich DeJarlais
Program Manager
dejarlar@stjosephs-marshfield.org

While my nursing career (since 1976) has been entirely at Saint Joseph's Hospital, its been somewhat diverse. Clinically, experiences have been primarily in PICU/Trauma Unit, but also in SICU and CCU. In 1979, driven by new opportunities and challenges to promote patient care, my nursing career track branched into management. My primary job enjoyments include a variety of indirect and direct patient care opportunities, as well as the privilege of working with a diversely talented people. My home is Marshfield, and my second home is almost any lake in the northwoods, especially Lake Superior. My foundation is my family.

My transport nursing career began in 1980 at UW-Madison. While working as staff/charge/preceptor in the Trauma Life Support Center, I transitioned into an additional role on their Greyhound bus-which had been converted into the Midwest's first critical care transport unit. Cross-training has included CV-Surgical ICU, NICU, Burn, and Clinical Research. Since 1985, my primary "office" has been the patient cabin of a Bell 222UT. During that time, I've enjoyed delivering transport critical care, as well as serving as clinical preceptor and outreach lecturer.

Since completion of graduate school, I have transitioned into my new role as Assistant Nurse Manager. One of my primary responsibilities is to serve as manager of the Spirit base in Weston. Additionally, I enjoy the opportunity to serve as a crew advocate, outreach educator, and in maintaining clinical competency on both ground and air. ASTNA publication endeavors, transport research, and enjoying my family and new home in Marshfield fill my "off duty" time.
