Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield has been verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level II Trauma Center, the only ACS verified Trauma Center in North Central Wisconsin.
Trauma can be defined as an event or series of events, which are sudden, unpredictable, overwhelming, and often life threatening. Trauma is the leading cause of death during the first three decades of life. There are over two million patients hospitalized each year with traumatic injuries. Trauma is also the leading cause of short term and long-term disability. Economically, the cost of trauma exceeds $200 billion and includes hospital costs, lost wages, administrative costs, property damage, and lost productivity.
Consistent with the mission and vision of Ministry Health Care, Trauma Services is committed to providing high-quality and comprehensive trauma care that meets the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of those we serve. With the support of Ministry Health Care, and partnership with Marshfield Clinic, Trauma Services will continue to promote healthier and safer communities while providing services to all injured persons.
Saint Joseph's Hospital has enhanced its ability to care for the most complex trauma patients by initiating and successfully completing a multiyear program to achieve the high standards for trauma care verification put forth by the American College of Surgeons.
