WAYS YOU CAN HELP THE CHILD LIFE PROGRAM

THE FOUNDATION OF SAINT JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL

Central Park Tree Decorations

Through donations to the Saint Joseph's Hospital Foundation-Pediatric Fund we are able to decorate our Central Park on the Pediatric Unit for each season of the year. We work in conjunction with a local florist, Spring Green, who donates part of their time and decorations to make this happen. The decorations provide a more normalized environment for the patients and their families throughout the year. We decorate for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Saint Patrick's Day, Easter, Spring, Summer theme (Red, White and Blue), Fall and Halloween. This area provides motivation for many children to take their first walk after surgery to see the display. The only way we are able to keep this program going is through the generous donations we receive.

Donations through Children's Miracle Network- Child Life Program

Band-Aid Book Donations

The Child Life Department at Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital has developed a Band-Aid book created for patients undergoing stressful or invasive procedures. The child-friendly band-aids are donated by local schools and businesses. If you or your organization would like to contribute to our supply of child-friendly band-aids, feel free to contact the Child Life Department at (715) 387-7337.

BRAVERY BEAD PROGRAM

Program funded by donations to the Children's Miracle Network Bravery Bead Fund

The Bravery Bead Program is for children and adolescents treated for cancer at Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital and Marshfield Clinic of Wisconsin. At diagnosis, children receive a "starter necklace" from the Child Life Staff, which includes a cord and beads to spell their name, a bead to represent Children's Miracle Network, and a bead representing the Child Life Program. Children can then collect beads to acknowledge their courage throughout their experience with cancer. Each child can create a unique necklace, bracelet, or even just a chain of beads, with each bead representing different elements of the treatment process. There are 26 different tests and procedures that a child may go through to receive a bead. Each time a child goes through a particular test or procedure, they earn a bead. The program is strictly voluntary, allowing each child and adolescent to decide whether or not they will participate. Beads are available from the Child Life Staff on the Pediatric Unit, in Radiation Oncology on the first floor of the Hospital, and in the Pediatrics Department at Marshfield Clinic.

RONALD McDONALD HOUSE

Ronald McDonald House Charities is a non-profit agency which relies on the generosity of others to continue providing our services. Below is a list of ways that you can help:

  • Please give us a call (715) 387-5899 to find out more about making donation in honor or in memory of a loved one.
The Ronald McDonald House sends acknowledgements both to the donor and individual for whom the tribute/memorial gift was made. The card specifies the occasion and names the donor but does not disclose the amount of the gift.
  • Please give us a call (715) 387-5899 to find out more about making tax deductible donation.
  • Share a night.
The Ronald McDonald House asks for families to pay $5.00 a night, but or some families even that can be too much. By sponsoring a night or week, you enable us to continue helping families.
  • Volunteer your time.
We need volunteers. A variety of day, evening and weekend shifts are available. Volunteers are the heart of our home.
  • Donate items from our wish list.
  • Collect aluminum pop tabs.
Collecting beverage tabs help raise needed funds for the house. You can bring your tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in
    Marshfield.
  • Invite a Ronald McDonald House representative to speak to your organization.
