RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
Medical treatment for a seriously ill child is often physically and emotionally exhausting for the entire family. But a sick child needs more than just good medical attention. A child needs the emotional support and understanding of parents. Parents, in turn, need a place where they can draw additional strength and find stability when the child is ill.

The Marshfield Ronald McDonald House® serves as a temporary "home away from home" for parents and families receiving medical care and Saint Joseph's Hospital or Marshfield Clinic.

Ronald McDonald House has been called "The House That Love Built" because it relies on the love and generosity of so many people. On December 8, 1983, less than 10 months after the board's first meeting, the doors of the Ronald McDonald House opened.

People in communities throughout Wisconsin and neighboring states responded to the plea for funds to renovate an existing structure suitable for the House. The response was outstanding ... and that support continues today.

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of
Marshfield

In September, 1996, Friends of Ronald, Inc., joined Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)™. At that time, our name was officially changed from Friends of Ronald, Inc. to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Marshfield, Inc. In addition to supporting the Ronald McDonald House, RMHC™ encourages Ronald McDonald House to provide grants that help children and their families.

Who Can Stay?
The Ronald McDonald House of Marshfield welcomes families with a child, 21 or younger, who is hospitalized or receiving outpatient care at
Saint Joseph's Hospital or Marshfield Clinic. Families must live outside the Marshfield city limits. Rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis. If no rooms are available, the family's name is put on a waiting list and they are notified of the earliest vacancy. Unfortunately, advanced reservations are not accepted. Families call the morning they will be needing the room (715-387-5899).

What You Will Find At Our House
Marshfield's House is a charming two-story brick home located adjacent to Saint Joseph's Hospital, so parents can be immediately available, day or night, should their child need them. In addition, children receiving outpatient treatment may stay there with their parents, yet still be close to the medical facility should problems arise.

The Ronald McDonald House has the capability to lodge 10 families. Not only for sleeping, the House helps ease the financial burden by providing generously stocked kitchen and laundry facilities, a play room, comfortable living rooms and an outdoor deck and play area, all for a minimal nightly fee.

In addition to their private room, parents will find a warm, comfortable setting, where they can rest, prepare a hot meal, and perhaps as important, share their concerns and experiences with other parents in similar situations.

The Staff
The Ronald McDonald House has staff or volunteers available to families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Room Fee
Families at the Ronald McDonald House of Marshfield are asked to pay $5.00 per night. Financial hardship is reviewed by the House Director on an individual basis.

How Can I Help?
Ronald McDonald House Charities is a non-profit agency which relies on the generosity of others to continue providing our services. Below is a list of ways that you can help:

  • Please give us a call (715) 387-5899 to find out more about making donation in honor or in memory of a loved one.
The Ronald McDonald House sends acknowledgements both to the donor and individual for whom the tribute/memorial gift was made. The card specifies the occasion and names the donor but does not disclose the amount of the gift.
  • Please give us a call (715) 387-5899 to find out more about making tax deductible donation.
  • Share a night.
The Ronald McDonald House asks for families to pay $5.00 a night, but or some families even that can be too much. By sponsoring a night or week, you enable us to continue helping families.
  • Volunteer your time.
We need volunteers. A variety of day, evening and weekend shifts are available. Volunteers are the heart of our home.
  • Donate items from our wish list.
  • Collect aluminum pop tabs.
Collecting beverage tabs help raise needed funds for the house. You can bring your tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in
    Marshfield.
  • Invite a Ronald McDonald House representative to speak to your organization.
