OUR VEHICLES
The Spirit Medical Transportation Services offers critical care transportation and emergency pre-hospital care with ground ambulances and a rotor-wing aircraft (helicopter).
|
HELICOPTER
Our aircraft is a Bell 222UT, single-pilot, Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) rated helicopter. One of the safest helicopters in EMS, the 222 flies an average of 150-170 MPH and has a non-stop flight radius of 200 miles. The aircraft is equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) and can carry up to two patients and three medical crew members. The helicopter is owned and operated by Air Methods Corporation of Denver, Colorado. Air Methods is one of the largest providers of helicopter transport services in the United States and provides us with four pilots and two full-time mechanics.
The pilots are Airline Transport Pilot certified and continue to train throughout the year, including performing "check rides" to maintain current certification. Similarly, our helicopter mechanics hold FAA certifications and are required to periodically train for maintenance bulletins and new maintenance procedures. |

AMBULANCES
The Spirit Medical Transportation Services operates two Type III modular ground ambulances which are medically equipped to transport a patient in a critical care environment. The ambulances carry the same medications and equipment as the helicopter.
All ambulance specifications meet or exceed state regulations and undergo regular preventive maintenance to ensure optimal safety and performance. For interfacility transfers, a driver trained in emergency vehicle operations joins the crew so that the nurse and paramedic can both care for the patient. | |
