ONCOLOGY UNIT TOUR
The oncology unit provides 24-hour care for patients who are being treated for cancer or blood disorders, experiencing side effects of the treatment, or other related problems. Care is provided by registered nurses, nursing assistants and certified health unit coordinators who have received special training in caring for people with cancer and are skilled in the latest advancements of cancer treatment. Patients may receive conventional or investigational treatment, but in either case the quality of a patient's life is a priority. Supportive staff experienced in working with people who have cancer, are part of the health care team. Care is always patient/family focused. |

Wellness Room
This area provides a quiet place for meditation, contemplation and soothing music. The Wellness Room was made possible by donations to the Foundation of Saint Joseph's Hospital.
The Wig/Turban Loan Closet is located in the Wellness Room. It is operated in cooperation with the American Cancer Society to provide wigs, turbans, hats, and scarves, at no cost, to people who may lose or have thinning of their hair due to cancer treatments. |
Family Lounge
The Family Lounge provides family members a place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or prepare a snack. Youngsters can join their parents and enjoy the "children's corner." The microwave, freezer and refrigerator are available for families to use. Patients can also join their families in the lounge to celebrate a special occasion or just watch a video. Our Family Lounge was recently remodeled thanks to a donation to the Foundation of Saint Joseph's Hospital by the family of one of our former patients, Eileen Timbers. |

Patient Room
The unit has both private and semiprivate rooms. Some of the private rooms have a VCR for patients and families to watch educational tapes or personal tapes provided by the family. Specially filtered rooms provide an environment for those patients who have leukemia or are having a bone marrow transplant. |
Family Conference Room
The Family Conference Room provides a quiet and private area where medical professionals can discuss with family members the care of their loved one. |
