Local Students Complete the First Medical Services Academy

(Rhinelander, WI) Five Rhinelander High School students recently completed the coursework for the first Medical Services Academy. The academy, a collaborative effort between Ministry Health Care and the Rhinelander High School, provides a guided academic curriculum, using the community and its resources as the classroom, a health career exploration experience for high school students.

Through clinical observation experiences, these students were exposed to the many career choices in health care. Using hospital and clinic staff as mentors, the students chose areas of interest and were able to spent time observing in many areas including the operating room, pediatric clinic, laboratory, radiology and even observing a birth. The students felt the Medical Services Academy experience was invaluable and has helped them in decision making for their future. The Medical Services Academy will welcome new students into the program this fall. For more information about the academy, please call Sue Klemm, RN at 715-361-2066.
