Join the Heart Walk on September 19

This year’s American Heart Association Heart Walk will be held Saturday, September 19 at Wildwood Park in conjunction with Marshfield’s Maple Fall Festival.

Registration is at 8 a.m., with the walk starting at 9 a.m. There will be one-mile and three-mile routes available, with the walk starting and ending at the upper pond shelter. The event will also include displays, informational materials and refreshments. The AHA also awards prizes according to the amount of pledges collected. Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Marshfield Clinic are among major sponsors of the walk.

Also at the Park that weekend will be the annual Marshfield Fall Festival, featuring a large number of craft booths, refreshment stands and entertainment.

Funds raised from the Heart Walk support heart and stroke research and education programs. Research funded by the AHA has yielded important discoveries such as CPR, life-extending drugs, pacemakers, bypass surgery and surgical techniques to repair heart defects. These and other advances are making it possible for many to call themselves “survivors.” For more information about the walk, or starting a team, contact Karla Lodholz at 715.359.7335.
