May is Asthma Awareness Month. “Breathe Easy,” an asthma workshop for children, teens and adults, will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday May 6 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Speakers include Stephanie Kohlbeck, PhD, Marshfield Clinic, who will discuss coping strategies for chronic illness; and Dena Jarog, RN, DNP, CCNS, Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, who will talk about an action plan to stretch your health and your dollars.
Exhibits, open from 5:30-6:30 p.m., will offer education about topics including medications, delivery devices, environmental controls, exercise-induced asthma, traveling, school and day care tips and community resources. Speakers start at 6:30. There also will be free educational activities for the children, with games and prizes. Refreshments will be served.
The event is sponsored by Saint Joseph’s Hospital and funded by Children’s Miracle Network and the Foundation of Saint Joseph’s Hospital. It will be held in the hospital’s adjoining conference rooms of St. Clare, St. Joseph and St. Francis, located on the first floor of the north building. Enter through the main entrance and follow the signs.
