 What can the loan program provide for me?
The maximum amount a student may receive from this program is $10,000, with a recommended maximum of $5,000 per academic year.
 Does the loan program money have to be used specifically for college tuition?
The loan may be used for educational expenses, such as books, tuition and housing, that are incurred while in school. There is no verification process for educational fund usage.
 When would I receive my loan?
You will receive payment following the acceptance of an offer to participate in the program and the signing of the agreements.
 What is my employment commitment to Saint Joseph's Hospital when I graduate?
Upon academic program completion, you will be hired into a 32-40 hour per week position at Saint Joseph's Hospital.
 How is the loan repaid?
Starting with the hire date, the loan balance is reduced based upon hours worked at Saint Joseph's Hospital. For every hour worked, the participant's loan balance is reduced by $1.50. If the student fails to meet certain criteria of the program, he or she is responsible for immediate repayment of the loan.
 Am I eligible for the loan?
Students who are not yet employees and have documented acceptance into an approved nursing program are eligible to apply. Current employees can access the tuition assistance and the Nursing Career Advancement Loan.
 How do I apply for this program?
We need from you:
  • A completed employment application from Saint Joseph's Hospital;
  • Two letters of reference from instructors or previous employers;
  • Documented acceptance into your program of study;
  • Documented cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater;
  • Application deadline is June 1 for the August/September semester, and Nov. 1 for the January semester
