Part-time employment with part-time benefits start at 24 hours/week, and full-time employment with full-time benefits are for staff working 32-40 hours/week.

Many of the nursing units have the following scheduling options.


Scheduled Positions

  • 8-hour or 12-hour shifts
  • Every other weekend or 12-hour shifts every 3rd weekend
  • Every weekend program is available in two versions: 24/36 (work 24 hours/paid for 36 hours)
  • 36/54 (work 36 hours/paid for 54 hours)

Casual Positions


Base Casual

Work a minimum of 16 hours/month at the base rate of pay


Enhanced Unit Based Casual

Work a minimum of 40 hours/month with 16 hours of weekend time per month at an enhanced $3.50/hour above base rate of pay


Critical Needs Team

Work a minimum of 32 hours/month with 16 hours of weekend time per month and float between three or more nursing units as the need arises. Rate of pay is based upon years of RN experience: 2-5 years = $34/hour, 5-10 years = $36/hour; and over 10 years = $38/hour


Saint Joseph's Hospital also has several premium pay programs that include holiday premium, extra shift premium, and weekend premium pay.
