Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston Receives Level III Trauma Re-verification

The State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services has re-verified Saint Clare’s Hospital in Weston as a Level III Trauma Care Facility.

Department of Health Services staff completed their comprehensive review of the emergency department at Saint Clare’s during an onsite visit in June.

In their summary report, which was received by hospital officials last week, surveyors commended Saint Clare’s Emergency Department on its quality of care, leadership, administrative support, injury prevention programs, education resources and relationships with other Ministry Health Care Facilities and local EMS units as well as access to Ministry’s Spirit Medical Transportation System.

“The delivery of high quality emergency care is one of the primary focuses of any hospital and we are thankful for our team of dedicated professionals who provide this service to our community,” said Saint Clare’s President Mary Krueger. “The re-verification process provides valuable insight into our system of care and important analysis that we can share with our entire team.”

Wisconsin’s integrated system of trauma identifies hospitals as trauma care facilities by using four levels. This system recognizes that all hospitals in Wisconsin play an important role in providing optimal treatment to the injured patient. It is imperative that patients are delivered in a timely manner to the closest appropriate hospital matching resources to the needs of the severely injured patient.

“We have worked hard to establish and develop our system of care for emergency services,” said Heong P’ng, M.D., medical director for Emergency Services at Saint Clare’s. “The process of quality improvement, injury prevention and careful analysis of everything we do never stops.”

The Emergency Department at Saint Clare’s Hospital features a specially trained team of emergency medicine physicians, nurses, paramedics and support staff who provide 24-hour access to critical care for patients requiring treatment from bumps and bruises to major trauma. Since opening in October of 2005, it has consistently achieved patient satisfaction scores in the top 5-percent nationally.

The newest member of the Ministry Health Care system sponsored by the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, Saint Clare’s Hospital is a 110-bed all-digital provider of quality, compassionate care in central Wisconsin offering a wide range of primary and specialty care.
