SYSTEM MEDICAL DIRECTOR NAMED FOR SPIRIT, MINISTRY MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

The Medical Director of Emergency Services at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Weston is taking on additional duties for Spirit, Ministry Medical Transportation Systems.

Heong P’ng, M.D., add the duties of System Medical Director for the service which provides emergency air, urgent and non-emergent air and ground transportation of patients among hospital facilities and paramedic intercept services in the region.

His appointment is the latest move in an ongoing effort to consolidate the operations of Ministry’s Medical Transportation Services in central and northern Wisconsin into a singular operating unit.

“Dr. P’ng will provide valuable leadership and important medical supervision to our operational bases located at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Saint Clare’s in Weston and Howard Young Health Care in Woodruff and Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander,” said Monty Gallegos, System Director of Medical Transportation Services. “He will also play a vital role in maintaining our relationships with our other affiliated hospitals and EMS providers in the communities we serve.”

P’ng joined Ministry Health Care in 2005 and was an original member of the medical staff at the opening of Saint Clare’s Hospital. Prior to coming to Saint Clare’s, P’ng served as Director of Operations for Southeastern Acute Care Specialists, an emergency services staffing company in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was also Medical Director of Occupational Health and Urgent Care for Nash Health Care and Associate Medical Director at Nash General Hospital. In addition, he was co founder of HouseCall Physicians, providing services to homebound patients in the tri-city area in North Carolina. Prior to joining Southeastern Acute Care Specialists, P’ng served as President of Picton Clinic, a multispecialty clinic in Ontario.

“These transportation services play a vital role in providing high-quality emergency care throughout the Ministry Health Care System,” said P’ng. “I look forward to working with the dedicated staff of paramedics, nurses, emergency medical technicians and all those involved throughout the system.”

A native of Malaysia, P’ng moved to Toronto, Canada in 1978. Board certified in emergency medicine and family practice, he earned his Medical Degree at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. He also has a professional interest in acupuncture and obtained certification in that practice in 1992. P’ng also a certified Medical Review Officer providing services to SAINTS, health services for business, Ministry Health Care’s comprehensive occupational health care service.
