Hospitalist Joins Staff of Saint Clare's Hospital in Weston

Ministry Health Care is pleased to welcome Nurudeen Lawal, MD, who recently joined the medical staff of Saint Clare’s Hospital in Weston as a hospitalist.

Hospitalists are internal medicine physicians who specialize in caring for patients who have been hospitalized. In many areas of the country, personal physicians are referring their patients to a Hospitalist when their patients are sick enough that they can no longer be cared for in the outpatient setting.

After receiving his certificate in education from Oduduwa College, Ife, Nigeria, Lawal completed his undergraduate medical education at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He completed an internship at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital and spent nearly seven years as a medical and occupational health officer at Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Medical Center, Warri, Nigeria. Lawal then completed a junior residency training in internal medicine at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin, Nigeria and recently finished his internal medicine residency at Interfaith Medical Center (formally Jewish Hospital), Brooklyn, New York.

“I believe that a hospital should be a safe place where empathic and well qualified professionals work as a team to offer high quality patient oriented care,” said Lawal. “I love to pay personal attention to my patient and be available to address their concerns to the best of my abilities.

Lawal and his wife have three boys. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, reading, tennis and swimming.
