Diagnostic & Treatment Center to hold Arthritis Self-Help Program in Weston
In an effort to give people with Arthritis the knowledge to take control of their condition, The Diagnostic & Treatment Center, a service of Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Health Care in Weston has scheduled its second arthritis self-help program.
Led by certified occupational therapist Lori Kramer, this self-help program was developed specifically for people with arthritis and related conditions.
"We were thrilled with the response of our first session this spring and are happy to offer another session to the community," said Kramer.
Through engaging group discussion and easy-to understand course materials, the six week class will feature strategies for dealing with pain, stress and depression; the roles of exercise, medication and diet along with problem solving techniques as well of skills needed to take a more active role in arthritis care.
"Every individual is unique and people who complete the class often enjoy the benefits of decreased pain and physician visits; increased practice of self-management behaviors and increased exercise," added Kramer.
The class will run on Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. from September 17 – October 22 in Conference Room 1B of Marshfield Clinic Weston Center, on the campus of the Weston Regional Medical Center in Weston. Best access to the program is by using parking lot and Door #6. Cost for the program is $40 which includes a book and materials.
Registration for this program is required and space is limited. For more information, contact Kramer at 715.393.2102. The program is sponsored by the Wisconsin Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and the Foundation of Saint Clare's Hospital.
