Howard Young Medical Center obstetrics department prides itself on offering a family centered approach to labor and delivery.

When you come to Howard Young Medical Center for the birth of your baby, you feel more like you're entering a bedroom-away-from-home than a hospital. You will labor, birth (non-cesarean), recover and rest for your entire hospital stay in a comfortable suite with a private bath. The warm, inviting atmosphere features a fold-out sleeper chair for your support person, a recliner, rocker, TV and phone. It also contains everything the staff will need for your baby's birth. A surgical suite exclusively for cesarean-section births is located within the department.

Our skilled and attentive staff do everything they can to make your birthing experience a positive one. We use the latest in medical technology and expertise to help ensure that the needs of you and your baby are met. For newborns requiring special care we offer a direct connection to Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital in Marshfield. It's Wisconsin's only children's hospital outside Madison and Milwaukee, and the site of the region's only neonatal and pediatric intensive care units staffed 24/7 by a full complement of specialists.

We offer new and expectant parents prenatal education that focuses on the labor and delivery process, relaxation and comfort and also offer information on breast feeding, infant care as well as infant and child CPR. An on-staff International Board Certified Lactation Consultant provides additional support for breastfeeding mothers.
