More than you're expecting

Your baby's birth brings new experiences:

  • The beginning of a new life
  • For some, the introduction to parenthood
  • New family relationships — siblings, grandparents, other relatives

The Women & Infants Center at Saint Michael's Hospital provides family-centered obstetric care. With more than 700 babies born here each year, we know that no two families are alike, so we're focused on offering individualized options to add the personal touch and memorable experience you want.

"It's a very special thing to have our entire OB/GYN department board certified and is indicative of our commitment to the highest quality of care available locally."
- Dr. Fred Boehm, OB/GYN

Nine comfortable, family-size LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum) birthing suites are available, and our program is linked to the neonatal intensive care unit in Marshfield, part of Saint Joseph's Childrens Hospital.

Lamaze, breastfeeding, sibling and other educational opportunities are offered here at Saint Michael's Hospital.

Board-certified Ministry Medical Group obstetrician/gynecologists are on staff, offering high levels of expertise. Also practicing here are Nurse Practitioners specialized in women's health, pediatricians and Family Practice Physicians experienced in newborn care, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.

The Center provides the convenience of open visiting hours for Dad, siblings and grandparents; the joy of having your new baby in your room 24 hours a day and the peace of mind of a state-of-the-art infant security system.

Your LDRP room has more the feel of home than hospital; its warm, inviting atmosphere features a fold-out sleeper chair for your support person, a recliner, rocker, TV and phone. It also contains everything the staff will need for your baby's birth. In this room, you will labor, birth (non-cesarean), recover and rest for your entire hospital stay. A cesarean OR suite is down the hall.

We look forward to playing an important part in your new beginning! As your pregnancy progresses, the Center offers ongoing support and educational opportunities. We'll help you connect with Lamaze birthing classes, breastfeeding basics, sibling and The happiest baby on the Block classes.

We want you to know that our doctors and nurses really care about your family; they'll do everything they can to make your birth experience positive and comfortable. Ask us questions, let us know what you want, and be confident that you and your baby are in good hands.
