Ministry Health Care Birth Centers provide comprehensive, family-centered services including labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care. Services are provided for both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies and newborns.
Over 3,000 babies are delivered at Ministry Health Care Birth Centers each year. Our competent and caring nurses support you throughout your birthing experience with warmth and respect within a private, home-like environment. Birth suites provide private rooms for the labor, delivery and recovery period, as well as cesarean section operating rooms. Units are designed to enhance privacy and family involvement at all stages of the birthing process.
Care after birth is provided in private rooms where we encourage family participation in the care of the newborn. Though most babies room with their mothers, our nursery staff offers skilled care and a tender touch if needed. Certified lactation specialists provide support, education and follow-up consultation to breastfeeding mothers.
We also provide care to women who are hospitalized before delivery due to complications of pregnancy. Members of the nursing staff provide one-on-one teaching and antepartum support is available.
Ministry Health Care’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Marshfield provides care for critically ill newborns. The NICU, which is a Level III unit, is staffed by neonatologists from Marshfield Clinic and nurses who specialize in care of critically ill newborns. Some are transported to Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital via helicopter or specially equipped ambulance. A team of neonatologists, RNs, LPNs, unit assistants, unit clerks, social workers, and physical therapists provide care for over 400 fragile newborns each year.
In conjunction with Ministry Medical Group and Marshfield Clinic, Ministry Health Care offers a variety of perinatal services including high-risk pregnancy management and prenatal diagnostic services staffed by perinatologists, ultrasonographers and genetic counselors.
Ministry Health Care offers a wide range of classes for expectant families. Hospital tours are regularly available.
