History of Door County Memorial Hospital

Door County Memorial Hospital (DCMH), in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, has provided more than 60 years of quality health care to residents of Door County and northern Kewaunee County.

Established as a nonprofit hospital organization in 1943, DCMH has changed a great deal in the last several decades. The hospital has incorporated a birthing center into our physical environment and renovated the intensive care unit, emergency department, outpatient surgery center and numerous other outpatient support services. DCMH is committed to being a leader in the development of a comprehensive and coordinated health care.

DCMH's board of directors has been committed to stabilizing the physician community, recruiting new physicians and ensuring the availability of medical services offered to residents of and visitors to our scenic community.

Some of DCMH's services include: 24-hour emergency/urgent care, North Shore Medical Clinic, skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation services. The hospital-based North Shore Medical Clinic has numerous physicians, including family medicine and nurse practitioners, and specialists in OB/GYN, internal medicine, orthopaedics,  podiatry and pediatrics.

In 1999, DCMH joined Ministry Health Care, a values-driven health care delivery network of aligned hospitals, clinics and other providers based in Wisconsin and Minnesota. With over 10,000 employees including physicians and health professionals, Ministry also offers home health, hospice, long-term care, dialysis and many other services.
