Art For Health - 2010

A Project of The Women’s & Children’s Health Center and The Art of Music

The Art for Health program presents a series of FREE workshops for children focused on music and art, using performance, demonstrations and other activities. All classes will be held at the Children’s Center at Door County Memorial Hospital at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. (Classes run approximately one hour) Classes will be for children ages 4-12 years old.

 

1st Class Schedule for 2010:

Wednesday, January 13th
Paint Me a Song
(Terry Lundahl, Dorothy Scott, Julian Hagen, Emily Salms)

Children will get to listen to live music performed by a Door County artist and then paint the colors and shapes and images they hear.  Children will also have an opportunity to make a greeting card from their art work.

 

Wednesday, January 20th
Peanut Butter & Jam, and The Beat & Beyond
(Terry Lundahl, Dorothy Scott, Mike Bleck)

Children will get the opportunity to create their own rain sticks and experiment with all different types of musical instruments followed by a jam session Door County musicians. 

 

Wednesday, January 27th
Mom and Me - "Art on the Wild Side"
(Terry Lundahl, Dorothy Scott, and Patti Wagner)

Children & Parents will have the opportunity to learn about music and rhythm and participate in activities together that focus on music and language.  The second half of our class, Patti Wagner (yoga instructor) will lead the children in a special yoga session for both parents and children.  

 

Wednesday, February 3rd

Broadway Songbirds

(Terry Lundahl, Dorothy Scott, and Dan Riley)

Children will sing, dance and have a blast in this exciting music and performance class using state-of-the-art sound equipment.  Children will be instructed by Door County musicians on developing singing, songwriting, and dancing techniques for the stage.  

 

Wednesday, February 10th
Drama in a Bag
(Terry Lundahl, Dorothy Scott, and Gayle Johnson) 
Drama in a Bag is fun theater workshop where kids create and perform a short skit from objects in a bag.  Anything can ahppen when they create a play!  Children will learn how to make the audience believe they're someone else; travelers from another county, a flying asteroid, a slippery shadow, or maybe even a giant grasshopper.  Children will learn stage directions and acting techniques.  Family and friends are welcome to come and watch the performance which is sure to be fun and exciting.
